The following are six of the common thermoforming materials.
ABS Plastic
ABS is made of acrylonitrile, styrene, and butadiene. ABS is known for its heat resistance, which allows the plastic to be molded at high temperatures. Most commonly used for mechanical purposes, like pipe systems.
It can also be used for protective headgear, golf club heads, musical instruments, recorders, and toys.
PVC Plastic
PVC or polyvinyl chloride has a strong, hard structure, making it an ideal rigid plastic. It can withstand extreme temperatures and impacts, and is low cost.

HIPS Plastic
HIPS plastic, or polystyrene, can be used for foamed or rigid plastic. Its clear and brittle structure makes it ideal for protective packagings.
