The importance of mold surface roughness
1. Appropriate roughness: The mold surface should not be too smooth, otherwise the gas cannot escape from the mold and the material, affecting the molding effect. Appropriate roughness helps to release air and material adhesion.
2. Sandblasting process: Sandblasting can make the mold surface roughness uniform and improve the molding effect.
3. Sandpaper grinding: The surface of the mold can be treated with sandpaper, but when sandpaper is used, the surface is very easy to form patterns (sandpaper patterns), which will affect the beauty of the product. Therefore, when sandpaper is used for grinding, it is necessary to ensure that the parallel surfaces are consistent from beginning to end to alleviate the disorder of the sandpaper patterns.
Selection of mold materials
Since the blister mold can withstand very low pressure, the blister mold material selection range is very wide. There are two major categories of blister mold materials: non-metallic and metal. It should be based on factors such as the plastic properties of the blister mold, sheet thickness, molding method, production batch and mold cost. The following are several mold materials:
Gypsum, polyurethane resin (PU), epoxy resin: used for the production of small batch products, due to the large thermal expansion and contraction coefficient, not suitable for high-precision products.
Antimony tin: used to make small-sized plastic parts with patterns, marks or text.
Aluminum or aluminum alloy: Aluminum alloy molding molds are widely used because of their good controllability and guaranteed precision.
Electrolytic copper: using electroplating technology to attach and mold in the inner cavity of the blister cover, it has low cost, easy processing and fast timeliness, and is suitable for small and medium batch production.
The main material of the mold of our thermoforming machine is 6061 alloy aluminum plate, which has good control performance and high precision. If you want to know more about the machine, you can contact us.
